Curriculum is a plan for the child’s learning. From the moment the child arrives in the morning till the moment the child leaves, their day is nonstop curriculum. It is everything the child does. Curriculum is delivered through play and real experiences to children, to make preschool stick throughout lifelong learning. Curriculum is the toys, the art supplies, the other children, the routine, the setup, and the teachers.

Now I know curriculum is everything in the child’s day not just the guide line for what the child learns, the child picks what they learn through play. My understanding of curriculum has grown a lot and I have a better idea of what curriculum is and how important it is.

What is curriculum in early childhood education?  Now that you have been studying ECE for a few weeks, please write a new statement to answer this question.  How has your understanding of curriculum changed or grown since the first week of the semester?
